For a while, most of our attention is focused on what lies ahead. With a little distance, some things begin to take on a different meaning. Some fade into the background. Others become more important over the years. And suddenly, we start to see things in a completely different way.

Memories change. Some fade away. Others remain surprisingly vivid. Often, it is the little things. An old song. A familiar place. Or a decision that barely seemed to matter at the time, only to take on a completely new meaning years later. Some of these things have been part of our lives for a long time. Others have found their way to us more recently. And perhaps something is still waiting somewhere ahead of us.

Gears of Riot is an independent streetwear project from Germany. We draw inspiration from influences that have stayed with us over the years. Much of it has its roots in another time. Some things have changed. Others have remained.

Oldschool influences, classic subcultures and all the little things that have stayed with us over the years shape the visual language. Not as strict rules, but as a starting point that leaves room for personal interpretation. They tell stories of new beginnings, freedom, setbacks and the things we carry within us. Even if some of them are never shared.

Not every story begins in the same place. Perhaps that is why we eventually look back from time to time. Not to live in the past, but to understand what has remained.
